| Q: What is your worship style? A: Our worship style is "blended." That is, we try to strike a balance between "Classic" and "Contemporary" music. Our worship is orderly without being formal. Q: What should I wear? A: We have no real guidelines for dress. Our people are free to dress as they like. Q: What are the sermons like? A: Dr. Kolbo believes in talking to us- not preaching at us. He is a gifted communicator who applies the Bible to our lives in a practical way. His goal is not to conform us to religion but to see us transformed by Truth. Q: Are there programs for my children? A: Yes! We have an experienced and dedicated staff who provide an exciting and nurturing learning environment at both our 9:30 and 11:00 programs on Sunday morning. All staff are carefully screened and trained to care for your children. For more detailed information about our available programs visit the Programs section of this site. Q: What is your vision for the future of your church? A: We dream of being a diverse church that ministers effectively to at least four generations. We dream of outreach into the Eastgate Community that is both spiritual and practical through evangelism and the meeting of the "felt needs" of its people. We dream of 250 members who have committed themselves to the Maturity Covenant: Having daily time with God, giving a weekly tithe to God, and participating in a weekly small group for God. We dream of a network of 25 small groups within our church providing support, encouragement and accountability to our members as they seek to grow in Christ-likeness. These groups will be led by leaders who lovingly care for and feed their group. We dream of planting a daughter church. Because of our limited space for expansion and the distance many of our people must commute to church, we must expand in this way. We dream of an age appropriate life development process that leads our children and youth to love Jesus and His church, grow spiritually, discover their S.H.A.P.E.* for ministry, and understand their life mission in the world. We dream of sending five of these into vocational ministry throughout the world. The goal of this vision is to bring glory to God by presenting Jesus Christ with as many maturing disciples as possible before He returns. "Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ." Colossians 1:28 *S.H.A.P.E.- Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experiences. Q: What do you believe? A: The following six categories will help you understand what we believe about certain issues. If you have any questions please contact us as we would love to talk with you. 1. The Scriptures We believe the Bible was given to us by God who used Apostles and Prophets to communicate His message without error. We believe that God's revelation to us is complete and is the expression of how God wants us to live. 2. The True God We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is the source of all things and the one who sent the Son as His gift into the world. The Son is Jesus Christ who exists eternally and is co-equal with the Father. He was born into this world through the virgin Mary and is both true God and true man. He lived a sinless life, died as the sacrifice for our sins, rose physically from the dead and ascended back to the Father where He is now representing us. The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He indwells everyone who believes in Jesus Christ as Savior and baptizes believers into Christ and His Church at the moment of conversion. The Holy Spirit is God's seal of ownership on us to preserve us in Christ until Christ returns. 3. Man and Sin We believe that man is the product of the direct creative act of God and was made in the image of his Creator. We believe that mankind fell from a perfect relationship with God when Adam, our representative head, rebelled against Him. As a consequence of Adam's sin mankind was separated from God, became spiritually dead and subject to the influence of Satan. We believe in the sanctity of human life, which begins at the moment of conception. We believe that all sexual relationships must pattern themselves after a faithful heterosexual relationship within marriage. 4. Salvation We believe that salvation is a free gift of God brought to us through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, apart from any human merit or works. Our sole response to God's grace is faith or trust in Christ's sacrifice. 5. The Church We believe all who have experienced the "new birth" through faith in Christ's sacrifice are a part of His Church. We believe the local church is a congregation of baptized believer's, associated in faith and the carrying out of "The Great Commission." 6. Future Events We believe Jesus will return and that His return is imminent. We believe in the physical resurrection of all people; those who believe, to enjoy God's presence for eternity, and those who don't believe, to judgement and separation from God.
