– What We Believe
The following six categories will help you understand what we believe about certain issues. Here is a link to our more comprehensive
EBF Statement of Faith (2021). If you have any questions please contact us as we would love to talk with you.
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible was given to us by God who used Apostles and Prophets to communicate His message without error. We believe that God’s revelation to us is complete and is the expression of how God wants us to live.
The One True God
We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Father is the source of all things and the one who sent the Son as His gift into the world.
The Son is Jesus Christ who exists eternally and is co-equal with the Father. He was born into this world through the virgin Mary and is both true God and true man. He lived a sinless life, died as the sacrifice for our sins, rose physically from the dead and ascended back to the Father where He is now representing us.
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He indwells everyone who believes in Jesus Christ as Savior and baptizes believers into Christ and His Church at the moment of conversion. The Holy Spirit is God’s seal of ownership on us to preserve us in Christ until Christ returns.
Man & Sin
We believe that man is the product of the direct creative act of God and was made in the image of his Creator.
We believe that mankind fell from a perfect relationship with God when Adam, our representative head, rebelled against Him. As a consequence of Adam’s sin mankind was separated from God, became spiritually dead and subject to the influence of Satan. We believe in the sanctity of human life, which begins at the moment of conception. We believe that all sexual relationships must pattern themselves after a faithful heterosexual relationship within marriage.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God brought to us through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, apart from any human merit or works. Our sole response to God’s grace is faith or trust in Christ’s sacrifice.
The Church
We believe all who have experienced the “new birth” through faith in Christ’s sacrifice are a part of His Church. We believe the local church is a congregation of baptized believer’s, associated in faith and the carrying out of “The Great Commission.”
Future Events
We believe Jesus will return and that His return is imminent.
We believe in the physical resurrection of all people; those who believe, to enjoy God’s presence for eternity, and those who don’t believe, to judgment and separation from God.
