June 13, 2019 Update

Weekly Update

From Dallas Boyer regarding his son, Mark Boyer:
“Mark continues to improve as he completes his 5th week of acute therapy.  He continues to regain strength and mobility in his right side — he walked 200 ft. earlier this week (using a walker), then 100+ each of the next days with the therapist walking alongside. His speech is becoming much more understandable.  He is handling solid foods now and as soon as they are satisfied, he is drinking enough to stay hydrated, they will remove the feeding tube.  The hospital (Swedish) is allowing us a family conference room on his floor for our family to all gather in tomorrow (the 13th) to celebrate our 50th anniversary with dessert.  They are assisting us now in trying to find an assisted living home for him to continue his recovery and therapy.  Please pray for his complete recovery and that we can find a place in close proximity to our home.  Thanks again for all your concern and faithfully praying.”   HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY, DALLAS AND NANCY!!

A delightful time was had by all at the Farewell Breakfast for Dawn Black on Sunday morning!!   Thanks to Doug and Sally Hoy and the many other helpers!  It was great to see Pat Babcock and Scott Kennedy who Dawn has ministered to along the way.

The Church Library will be open this Saturday, June 15 from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Stop by and pick up a good book to read.

NO Share & Prayer time this Sunday, June 16 because of Father’s Day.

Full Board Meeting on Wednesday, June 19 at 5:30 pm at Doug Hoy’s home.

Do you enjoy playing board games?  On Thursday, June 20, the monthly Game Fellowship time will take place in the Fireside Room at 2:00 pm.  Contact Linda Caywood with questions or for more info at 425-747-9285.

On Sunday, Pastor Robin will be leading the Worship team and continuing his sermon series in Acts.  When you arrive, you will be greeted by Dawn Black & Diane Scirica.  Chuck & Bick Bishop will be at the Beverage Center after church serving Italian sodas. Jill Gardenhire and Linda Caywood will be praying for the EBF Family in the Prayer Room.  Jim Caywood, Norm Adams, Tom Houck & Mike Fallon are the June ushering team.

June 6, 2019 Update

Mark Boyer will be at Swedish two more weeks — he is progressing well and his speech is improving.  They will be removing his feeding tube today so he will be on his own for food and water (pray that he will make himself drink enough so that he doesn’t become dehydrated).  He usually has about five 45 minute physical therapy sessions each day.  His case worker is working on getting him into a group home when he is finished at Swedish — please pray that he will be approved for one close to the Boyers.

Regarding Mark Boyer from Dallas on Wednesday, May 29:

May 23, 2019 Update

This Week’s update on Mark Boyer from Dallas on Thursday, May 23:
“Mark has been at Swedish Hospitals Cherry Hill Campus Acute Therapy 2 weeks already.  His recovery seems to be improving more quickly (my words, not his).  They started a kind of shock therapy, where they attach electrodes similar to an EKG to specific muscles and assist them in “firing” or responding to the brain’s direction to function.  As a result, both his right arm and leg are gaining function more quickly.  He has walked in therapy sessions (with a walker) a total of about 50 feet a couple of times this week.  He is able to get in and out of bed with assistance and is starting to talk more clearly.  He has been cleared to a less cautious diet — he was served chicken breast yesterday and the kitchen mistakenly sent it on the bone, but he had no problem cleaning it to the bone.  Thanks again to all who are praying for his recovery and are expressing your love for him and for us as we are trying to be available to encourage and assist him.”   It was great to have Dallas & Nancy with on Sunday for Sunday School and the Worship service for the first time since Mark’s stroke !!

It was good to have Jerry & Jo Cudney with us on Sunday.  Jo’s radiation treatments are completed — she has lost all sense of taste but the doctors say it should come back within 6 months.  Please pray for strength and healing for her.

Dick and Donna Duryee have arrived in Spain for their visit with Chris, Rose, Susanna & Austin !!

News from Chuka Momah:  He will have a special someone with him on Sunday — his wife Tamara !!  They were married in March 2017 and she has been waiting for her spouse visa to be able to come to the U.S.  Please greet her and make her feel welcome.

Work on the new Men’s Restroom continues — they are waiting on the permit to come through but continuing to do other work on the project.  Please pray for a quick OK on the permit.

MAILBOXES:  There are still items in the office that were taken out of the mailboxes — please ask for them.  If you have something that you would normally have put in someone’s mailbox, please hand deliver it.  We are still planning what to do about mailboxes.

Update from Debbie McBee: Bonnie and I have traveled over 1,350 miles and seen God’s beauty everywhere and see his hand of protection as we have traveled through a hailstorm, snowstorm and a thunderstorm.  God has given us beautiful cold skies as we toured Arches, Bryce and Zion National Parks.  Today we go into the Grand Canyon.  We still like each other and give glory to God together.  We love and miss you.

Update from Debbie McBee on Baby Malachi (who we prayed for several months ago when he had his open heart surgery): He just had an appointment with the cardiologist and MALACHI’S HEART IS HEALED!  Praise God no more surgery and they don’t even have a follow up for 6 months.

Update from David & Lisa Chapman: Noel graduated from Boston University School of Law on Sunday.  We are traveling from Boston to Oklahoma City in a Budget truck so we are missing all the excitement the weather brings to Oklahoma.  We have managed to miss those storms that are happening around our travels and pray God continues to protect.  Noel flew into OKC on Tuesday the one unstormy day.  She has connected with the neighbor who has a shelter just in case. The weather can do anything but our area seems to be in the band that tornados go around.  As always, we appreciate your love and prayers, Lisa & David

On Sunday, Pastor Robin will be leading the Worship team and continuing his sermon series in Acts.  When you arrive, you will be greeted by Doug & Sally Hoy.  Gretchen & Tom Houck will be at the Beverage Center after church serving Italian sodas.  Bob Baxter & Mike Van Eaton will be praying for the EBF Family in the Prayer Room.  Neal Gardenhire, Mark Kieras, Frank Kempf and Ed Borbon are the May ushering team.

May 16, 2019 Update

May 16 Update

This Week’s update on Mark Boyer from Dallas on Wednesday evening, May 15:

“MARK’S FIRST WEEK IN REHAB !!  Mark is in boot camp.  We thought that once he was finally admitted to rehab he would be so busy he would have NO surplus energy and that is correct.  He is enduring 4 to 5 sessions daily — a mix of speech, occupational and physical therapies.  He is improving a little more rapidly, but speech and swallow still seem to be the slowest.  Please continue to pray for his spiritual, physical, and emotional strength.  Dallas, Nancy and Mark”

Update on Tessa Johnston: (Sara & Jeremy -former members of EBF) has Neuroblastoma cancer; as of January 16, she is in remission; got to go home in April and is home for now; May 3 – scans show no evidence of disease; May 13 – bone marrow biopsy; May 24 – begins immuno therapy

** See last week’s update for more prayer requests for those with physical problems.

Please pray for Debbie McBee as she moves to Mississippi on May 18 to help with her mother and for a safe trip as Bonnie Kolbo accompanies her part of the way.

Work on the new Men’s Restroom began this week — you may need to do a double-take when you come to church on Sunday to make sure you are in the right place.  Be sure to thank Peter Stayner and Neal Gardenhire for the work they are doing — it will be a couple of months before the job is completed.

MAILBOXES:  With the Men’s Restroom taking over the space where they were, the thought was to move the mailbox system to another location until we figure out what we will be using for mailboxes.  Unfortunately, when the guys began to move it, it fell apart !!  If you had items in your mailbox, they are in the office — please ask for them.  If you have items you want to put in someone’s box, you will have to hand deliver them for now

The Church Library will be open this Saturday, May 18 from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Stop by and pick up a good book to read.

On Saturday, May 18 at 2:00 pm, the EBF Book Club will have their monthly meeting at Barb McClain’s home.  The book being discussed this month is “Her Undying Faith” by Joy Ohagwu.  If you would like to become a part of the Book Club, talk to Diane Scirica.

Beginning this Sunday, our Share & Prayer time is expanding from 2 times a month to each Sunday evening at 5:00 pm.   We meet to pray for one another, our OIKOS, our missionaries, etc.  All are welcome – kids are included in the prayer time.

On Sunday, Pastor Robin will be leading the Worship team and continuing his sermon series in Acts.  When you arrive, you will be greeted by Larry Sheriff and a friend.  Gretchen Houck and a friend will be at the Beverage Center after church serving Italian sodas.  Carla Shdo and Jayne DeArmond will be praying for the EBF Family in the Prayer Room.  Neal Gardenhire, Mark Kieras, Frank Kempf and Ed Borbon are the May ushering team.

May 1, 2019 Update

This Week’s update on Mark Boyer from Dallas on May 1:

Mark continues to slowly improve.  We are waiting now to be approved by insurance to move to an acute rehab facility.  He is on solid food, meats are still pureed.  They are taking him off insulin shots for the next 48 hours.  Continue to pray for return of strength, right side use, speech, and swallowing.  God is good and we continue to see answers every day.  (It has now been 9 weeks — pray for Dallas & Nancy, too).

Please continue to pray for Rob Adams as he recovers from his retina surgery on his right eye on Wednesday, April 24 — it will be 3 months or longer for his retina to fully heal.  Read more…
