Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 10:25 pm

Hi EBF Family,

As the ongoing events in our community (and world) continue to unfold, we want to take this moment to encourage and update you. These indeed are very challenging days. Amid the frenzy of reports and updates it is important for us to be reminded that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Let us remember that our confidence is in our great God and not any media headline.

Tonight, the elders and deacons met to pray over and discuss how we need to respond to the continually developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We respect and cherish the health of our church and our community. The response we’re taking has two main considerations. First, we need to do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Second, we want to exercise an abundance of caution for those in our church family with a higher risk of severe illness. As a result, we have decided to cancel all events and gatherings at the church through March 24, 2020.

Since we will not be gathering for fellowship, praise, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word, we would encourage you to make time to worship the Lord together as a family. We encourage you also to be looking for opportunities to stay connected with your neighbors and reach out to them with the love of Jesus. If we can be praying for you or any of your loved ones, please let us know by sharing it on the Prayer Wall on our website.

Lastly, if you need ideas for how to keep yourself and your family engaged and growing spiritually, we invite you to use the vast number of resources available through RightNow Media. RightNow Media contains a large amount of bible study, video and movie content designed to help families grow and is a resource we make available to everyone in our church. If you don’t have an account yet, or if you have any trouble accessing your account, please email Pastor Robin so he can get you up and running.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate with you whatever changes we feel need to be made as new details become known.

God Bless!

Hi EBF Family,

Here’s an update on what’s happening at Eastgate Bible Fellowship in light of the presence of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community. On Wednesday, the King County Department of Health issued a set of recommendations for the next three weeks (through 3/25/2020) that advise against bringing large groups of people together for events and community gatherings.

While we are not legally required to do so, we believe that one of the best ways we can love our community right now is by taking proactive steps to slow the spread of coronavirus and reduce the number of people infected. Given this, we have decided to cancel all Sunday services this week. Pastor Robin will record his sermon for you and your family to watch on Sunday (stay tuned for more details).

What to Expect in the Days/Weeks Ahead

‍We will continue to evaluate the situation on a daily basis. We will be communicating often in the days ahead about the status of our normal gatherings. We expect some local churches will choose to press forward with their weekly services, but we feel strongly that the best thing for the community we are committed to serving is for us to honor the county’s recommendations (along with the recommendations of the CDC and WHO), to ensure that we are not contributing to further spread, and focus on identifying ways to help those in need because of these circumstances.

Our Mission Has Not Changed

‍Even amidst these unexpected events impacting our community, our mission as a church family has not changed, and we feel more confident than ever that there will be unprecedented opportunities to serve our city in the days ahead with hearts empowered by the fearless love of Jesus. Join us as we prayerfully seek ways to serve our neighbors with radical generosity and service.

If you learn of a need that you believe we can rally together to address as a church, please do let me know by emailing me at Additionally, if there is a specific way we can be praying with you, please let us know by submitting a prayer request on our church Prayer Wall.

Lastly, please continue to pray with us for those who are affected by this illness, as well as their caregivers and those who are working tirelessly to minimize the impact of this virus in our community.
